A new programme for us: The Nkhotakota District Nursing Officer has brought this urgent challenge to our attention, a truly devastating situation unfolding in maternal health. Despite our resilience as medical professionals, the staggering reality of 17 maternal deaths in the last month has shocked us.
What is desperately needed is an antenatal care program, to pick up problems and either deal with them today or plan for them at a future date.
We possess the necessary clinical, nursing, and midwifery expertise within our organization to put an end to the heart-breaking loss of life. Our commitment to the well-being of new-borns, who represent our future, compels us to act without delay.
With our existing facilities and a reliable vehicle at our disposal, all we lack are critical resources of a doppler ultrasound machine and an examination couch.
